  • Is therapy compatible with Indian culture and values?
Yes, therapy can respect and incorporate your cultural values, beliefs, and traditions while addressing your concerns. Therapy is not a western concept that will harm our culture and values in any way. The therapist will not try to change your culture and values in any way.

  • How can therapy address issues related to arranged marriages, joint families, or societal expectations?
Therapists understand these dynamics and work sensitively within your cultural context to explore solutions that align with your values. Being Indians, we as your therapists understand in depth the diverse culture in India. It is not our job to approve or disapprove or change your unique culture and values. We will respect it, consider it, and factor it into our plan while helping our clients.

  • Will the therapist judge my family or traditions?
No, therapists are trained to remain nonjudgmental and empathetic toward your experiences and cultural background. Not just family or traditions, we do not judge anything about you. The key of therapy is a neutral and non-judgemental approach. We are specifically trained to not judge and accept every client unconditionally. No matter how different you think your family or traditions are, we are open and will accept you and your culture just the way you are/it is.

  • How does therapy address the stigma around mental health in India?
Therapy creates a safe space to discuss concerns openly, helping to break down stigma through understanding and support. You can discuss any worries you may have about therapy with us.

  • Can therapy align with religious or spiritual beliefs?
Yes, therapists can incorporate or respect your beliefs if they’re important to your healing process. Consider this. You go to a doctor because they are good in their field and have a good experience or someone told you that they give very good treatment. It does not matter what the doctor's religion, caste, gender, or anything is. It also does not matter what your religion, gender, caste, or background is. In that cabin, you are a patient and the other person is the doctor. Rest does not matter. The doctor treats everyone no matter who they are. They don't try to change your background so that they can treat you better. It is exactly the same with therapists. They will not treat you differently due to your background. Everyone is equal to a therapist. We are dedicated to help you no matter what.
